Learn how to can extend your server life through iSCSI here.
Learn how an iSCSI solution can expand your server space while saving you money
Applies to: TeraStation 5010 / 3020 / 3010 / 6000 / 3030 / 5020 / 7010 series
For TeraStation 7000 / 5000 / 3000 series or earlier models, please refer to this article: Creating an iSCSI target on a Buffalo TeraStation
Note: It is recommended to setup iSCSI on a segregated network 1. Log in to Settings for the TeraStation. You can access Settings by either entering the TeraStation's IP address into a web browser window or by using NAS Navigator.
2. Navigate to the "Storage" tab
3. (Optional for TeraStation 5010 / 3010) Click on the LVM widget button to enable Logical Volume Management.
Note: When creating/deleting an LVM volume, all data in the area where you specified for the LVM volume will be erased. Before changing any settings, back up any important data.
4. Click the slide switch icon to enable iSCSI on the unit.
5. Click the iSCSI widget button to open the list of iSCSI volumes.
6. On the "iSCSI Settings" page it will list all the current iSCSI volumes. Click Create Volume to create a new iSCSI volume.
7. On the "Creating iSCSI Volume" page, enter the name of the volume and set the size. You can also add a description to the volume if desired. If you enabled LVM for the target drive or array, or selected “File I/O” for the “Backstore” option, the volume size that you specify here can be changed later.
Note: Attaching multiple Windows hosts to one volume will result in data corruption. If this volume will be used on a Windows host, we recommend enabling iSCSI Authentication to prevent this possibility.
8. (If iSCSI is on a segregated network this is likely not necessary, but it is recommended to use this funtion) Click the radio button to enable Authentication. The fields for "Username" and "Password" equate to the CHAP user and target secret in the iSCSI initiator of the host that will connect to this volume. Click OK when finished. Note: This is default enabled on TS5020/3030 series firmware v3.00 or later.
9. The new volume should now be listed along with any existing volumes.
